Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect on my first visit?

After completing a comprehensive intake form, Dr Graycar comes out to the waiting room to meet you. You then go back into an adjusting room where Dr Graycar takes an indepth history. At that point you will be asked to change into a gown. A chiropractic adjustment is than performed. This entire visit takes approximately 1 hour.

I don’t want to have x-rays taken, does Dr. Graycar take x-rays?

No. We refer patients to their primary medical doctor when we feel more diagnostic tests are necessary. Our technique does not require x-rays to diagnose and treat chiropractic conditions.

I don’t like the cracking and popping, will Dr. Graycar do that ?

No. DNFT does all of its corrections with gentle thrusts delivered by the doctors thumb.

Once I start, how often do I have to keep coming back?

Most cases are resolved in 6 visits. Difficult, complex and chronic cases can take up to 12 visits to completely resolve. In very rare cases, very difficult cases might require ongoing care indefinitely.

Other chiropractors have told me that once I start getting adjusted, I have to go for the rest of my life, is that true?

Much like a car needs tune-ups, teeth require cleaning, fitness requires consistent workouts, spine maintainence require some level of consistency. Do you need to come every week for years? No. Each person’s history, daily practices and inherited physical traits are different, so your health needs will vary accordingly. Some people will require visits every 4 weeks, some only need 4 visits per year.

We feel DNFT chiropractic should be an integral part of you body maintenance team. Acupuncture, exercise, massage, and healthy nutritional practices, should also be part of this team. Each person’s ideal amount of these practices vary greatly. The bottom line is we can help you live a vibrant and full life.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. Each patient is different, Dr Graycar’s recommended plan for care has your best interest in mind. We have no interest in creating obligation to our office. Your obligation should only be to your health.

I have had other chiropractors say my problem will take 12-18 months to correct and they want me to pre-pay for the care, do you do that?

No. We have found 2-4 people per 100 require such intense care plans. These are usually people who have had tremendous amounts of trauma and massive ligament damage. As for pre-pay plans, they are an embarrassment to our profession. There is little to no incentive for a practitioner to correct problems as quickly as possible when a patient prepays. If Dr Graycar’s work yields little to no symptom relief in the first few weeks, alternative avenues(referrals) and strategies are discussed.

You don’t have to do anything that does’t make sense to you. We believe that pain and structural dysfunction brings you into our office. We correct those pains and dysfunctions as quickly as possible. Much like going to a dentist and getting your teeth fixed and then cleaned, getting your spinal problems cleared out and then “cleaned” or adjusted a few times a year just makes sense. (Each person’s needs are different. A professional athlete, stylist, or anyone who uses their bodies to make a living might require more frequent “cleanings”. People who workout regularly and follow basic healthy practices and don’t ask a lot of their bodies daily can get by with less frequent visits.)
